AT and Math

The following blog posts will discuss the use of AT and Math.

AT can be used as a tool to teach math concepts to students who have disabilities. Many textbooks are devoted to using instructional technology or educational technology in classrooms and there are also specific technologies that can facilitate learning math, increase engagement and participation and build independence for students with disabilities.

Computers, for example, are an extremely flexible tool that can enhance all students' learning and can provide students at all levels with countless meaningful learning experiences.  Students with disabilities who need extended practice and repetition can benefit from using the computer.  Educational applications (software programs and interactive Web-based activities) are beneficial for helping these students master needed skills because they can be customized to meet individual needs, provide sufficient repetition and present materials.

The next blog post will address specific questions to be considered when selecting educational applications to meet students' goals and objectives.
