AT: Scan and Read Software

A scan and read software involves using a scanner to scan paper documents into a computer. The software will then translate it into digital format so it can be read and edited.  This saves the user time and effort in creating and editing documents. It will allow an user to export the converted text and use it with a variety of applications.

Students who have print disabilities such as those with dyslexia, visual impairment, learning difficulties or those with physical impairments that prevent them from handling and reading printed word can benefit from having material scanned into the computer. Individuals with low vision or blindness may benefit from this type of technology because it includes many features such as built in text-to-speech capabilities; adjustable font size, type and color; and adjustable background and highlighting color.
